Re: Where are you?
Hi Annie
I tried to ring you. I saw Ray
on Tuesday night. Was there a change of
plan? You should let me know if he’s
staying here. I could have got him a better room.
Ring me

Re: Re:Where are you?
Hi Sal
Sorry. Lost my phone.
I was intrigued that you saw Ray.
He didn’t tell me of any change of plan.
I thought he was in Amsterdam as usual.
We spoke on the phone – that was the last time I had it. I never thought to ask where he was.
Anyway, I’ll let him know.

Re: Here again
Hi Annie
I see Ray was here again last night.
I wasn’t in; otherwise I’d have sorted out an upgrade. So where’s he working then?

Hi Sal
I don’t know where he’s working.
He said he was going to Amsterdam.
Who was he with?

Hi Annie
I don’t know who he was with. He
made the booking himself and no other booking was made with it. Are you two ok?

Hi Sal
I thought we were ok. But why
would he tell me he was going to Amsterdam and then go to Manchester?

Maybe it was a last minute change of plan, again.

Re: Yeah right!
Why would he make the booking himself?
He has a secretary to do things like that. Anyway he’s going to Amsterdam again next
week. I’ll ask him if I can go too!
That’ll put the kibosh on his little game, whatever it is.

Hi Annie
A woman by the name of Angela Brown.

That’s his secretary. That’s all
well and good – the oldest cliché in the book but she’s at least a decade older
than me.

Re: Ray
She didn’t stay. I saw her
leave, myself. They had dinner together, they talked to the chef for quite a
long time, she looked at several rooms and then she left and Ray went to his
room.
Maybe he’s arranging a conference?
Don’t worry about it Annie.

Re: Re: Ray
Thanks for trying to reassure me Sal but if he’s arranging a
conference, why would he not just tell me, rather than leaving me to believe
he’s staying over in Amsterdam. And why
is he organising it not that Angela Brown woman.

Re: Ray
Stop worrying about it Annie.
You’d be surprised how many managers we see about arranging a
conference. Well, at least until the
food is decided on!
Just think about it. Has he
changed at all in his behaviour towards you?
Do you feel any different when you are with him?
I’ll see what I can find out from Tony.
He organises the conferences.
Speak to you soon.

Re: You won’t believe it.
Thanks Sal. I’d really
appreciate that. I’m just a bit mystified. I don’t actually feel that he’s behaving any
differently towards me. In fact he’s
being really nice. But, then he’s always really nice. He brought me some
flowers last night and in the wrapping were two tickets to Amsterdam for next
week – for three days. We’re staying two
nights at The Marriott. He’d even
checked with Susie that she could cover in the shop. She told me this morning that it was all
arranged.
I just don’t get it.

Re: Holiday
Hi Annie
How was Amsterdam? I hope you
had a great time. I’m off for a week in
Wales. We did a last minute trawl on the Internet and got a lovely little
cottage in Pembrokeshire. So I’m hoping
to have lots of blisters when I come back to prove that I’ve been getting some
exercise! I have heard good things about the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Will
contact you when I get back.
Love
Sal

Re: Re: Holiday
Amsterdam was wonderful. We had
an amazing time. We got there early
evening and went out to a fabulous restaurant.
It was really nice to meet some of Ray’s colleagues. They said it was nice that he was staying a
little longer this time – but I didn’t push it.
It just didn’t feel right. He
just seemed so proud to be “showing me off” to his colleagues. They’d heard so much about me! Ha ha! Anyway Ray had meetings all the next day, but
I had a pamper package all set up for me.
It was absolutely wonderful. I
feel like I’m thirty all over again.
Really Sal. It was just fab. Ray took the day off and we were like a
couple of kids exploring the big city.
We did all the tours. We went on
the canal on one of those barges with the big glass windows. It was really romantic actually.
Anyway how are the blisters? I hope you had a great time in
Pembrokeshire. I’ve always fancied doing
the coastal path.
We should meet up and go for a pamper day together. I think I need to greet the big 40 in style!
Love
Annie

Re: This and That
I’m so glad you had a good time.
We had a great time. I can’t
believe it – even the weather was kind to us.
The blisters are not even too bad although neither of us escaped them
entirely. I definitely recommend
Pembrokeshire.
We will sort out a pamper day very soon. I am actually quite busy over the next few
weeks. I have a big conference to
organise … booked by Ray!!! Well
actually it was booked by Angela Brown.
While I was away Tony resigned.
He just came in one day and said he had to leave there and then. We haven’t seen him since. I don’t think he wanted anyone to know but I
get the impression his wife is very ill.
Anyway Mr Barclay summoned us all and didn’t really give too much away
but the long and the short of it is I’m filling in for Tony for I don’t know
how long. Mr Barclay said we just need
to do whatever it takes and he hoped that when his situation changed he may be
able to encourage Tony to come back.
In the mean time I’ve still got my job and I’ve got his. We will get our pamper day but it might have
to be after the conference.
Love
Sal

I do hope everything is ok for
Tony and also that you are not too stressed by all the extra work.
When is the conference? Perhaps
I could book us something for afterwards.

Re: Conference
Well he has invited me and he said he’s really sorry that it has to be
that date. He said he’d make it up to
me. We are going to Prague for a week
straight from The Barclay. I guess I’ll
let him off even if it is my birthday.
We did have a good time in Amsterdam.
Will you be too busy on the day or could we meet up?
Annie

I’ll probably be too busy, but I’ll book you something nice to
entertain you in the afternoon while Ray is busy. I think you’ll enjoy it. Just relax!

Re: Secret and lies!
My dear sweet Sal
I think you may have been spinning a few yarns. But you were right; I did enjoy it. So how long have you known that Ray was
organising a birthday party for me? All
that torture I went through thinking he was having an affair. I just about
forgive you. I hope you had time to
enjoy yourself too. Prague was really
wonderful. The whole thing was
fabulous. If this is what it is like
being forty bring it on!
Love
Annie
